Rosemary – the herb of remembrance

Blog

Metus dictum at tempor commodo

An evergreen bush that can grow up to 2m high. Originally from the Mediterranean coastlands with the common and generic names derived from early Latin ‘nos maris’, meaning dew of the sea.

Rosemary will grow in a large pot but be sure to not leave out in rain over the cooler months as it really doesn’t like wet feet. Good companion combinations in the garden are rosemary and sage, as they have been found to have a stimulating effect on each other.

Throughout history rosemary was renown for strengthening the memory. Greek students twined rosemary around their heads to stimulate memory and recall. Other compounds in rosemary work on improving blood circulation throughout the body, including the brain, which can help keep us more cerebrally supple.

Drink rosemary as a tea, use it to flavour food, and don’t be bashful about sticking a sprig of rosemary in your hair!
